Apricot (Prunus) Compacta

Compacta is a new, naturally dwarf Apricot that grows to a maximum height of 2m, so perfect for where growing space is limited.

Produces heavy, large crops of juicy and tasty, orange fruit. Freestone fruits that taste delicious in jam!

This particular variety featured on BBC Gardeners’ World in October 2017, episode 30.

The spring blossom can be resistant to frost, but it’s still a good idea to protect the tree as much as you can.

A very popular variety!

Only prune in the early summer as part of the fruit thinning operation in heavy cropping years or after picking in light cropping years.

If there is no crop, do not prune.

Apricots do not suffer from peach curl disease but be aware they do get bacterial canker quite badly during prolonged wet weather.

Pot growing is acceptable provided there is even moisture.

Good drainage is essential and for the very best success a southerly wall is perfect…they deserve a prime position!
