Perennials for Wildlife
Planting a perennial border is the perfect way to encourage wildlife into your garden. Not only will perennials attract a wide variety of birds, butterflies, bees and insects, they will also provide colourful blooms for you to enjoy all summer long. Adding a birdbath makes your flower bed extra beautiful and acts as focal point for your garden display.
It’s important to maintain perennial plants by removing spent blooms regularly. If you don’t, the flowers go to seed, and there will be no new flowers. So don’t forget to deadhead the dead flower heads.
Applying fertilizer for flowers every few weeks will also help keep these plants blooming all summer long.
Try to include a water source such as a birdbath in your flowerbed. Butterflies, dragonflies, and birds love a drink and a splash around!
Enjoy your perennial wildlife garden by getting out the garden chairs or a bench and putting them in front of it. It’s great spot to enjoy a cool drink while you are watching all the comings and goings.
