Located just
outside of historic Chepstow, at the gateway to the beautiful Wye Valley, we
are a family run business with an emphasis on customer service. Staffed by
knowledgeable, friendly people, we pride ourselves on being plant
orientated, whilst also offering a wide selection of gifts and homewares for
both indoor and outdoor living, and hosting a number of quality franchises.
Opened in August 2002, we continue to expand and grow. With car parking
space for 200 cars, a service to carry compost to your car and local
delivery, we are an inspirational and convenient shopping experience.
Staff Profiles
We
will be introducing you to some of the members of our team at Chepstow

Sue
- Plantaria Sales Advisor
Sue is part of our plantaria team and has a background in landscape garden
design. She is originally from Malvern and before entering the world of
horticulture, she was a ceramic artist making Fine Bone China flower
arrangements by hand, where she met and spoke to Prince Charles on a
presentation day at the studio where she worked. |

Judy
- Till Supervisor
Judy and her husband are from South Africa, but have lived in the UK for the
past 13 years, the last few years in Mathern. She loves gardening, walking to
work, and making the most of each season, so was keen to work at the garden
centre, where she likes helping people and the vibrant atmosphere. Judy
started working life as a Conveyancing Clerk before travelling and working
abroad (Cyprus and Turkey). Outside of work, Judy still loves travelling,
especially on family holidays with her husband and two children, where they
enjoy cycling. She loves the UK seasons, but is still trying to get used to
the short summers. |

Tracey
- Office Manager
Tracey is based at our Chepstow centre, but does the Accounts for all of our
centres as well as managing the office. She lives in Pwllmeyric with her
family, just a short walk from the garden centre, and originally comes from
Victorian seaside town of Clevedon on the north Somerset coast. She likes
the happy and friendly team of people at the centres. Outside of work, she
enjoys a weekly game of badminton with friends, is an active supporter of
Chepstow Swimming Club, for whom her son swims, and gets involved with her
daughter’s passion to be creative |

Mark
- Delivery Driver
Mark has been our Delivery Driver for over four years, initially at Norton
Garden Centre, and then at both centres when Chepstow opened. He is a
Gloucester boy born and bred. He enjoys working outdoors and meeting the
customers to whom he delivers, and he finds their gardens interesting and
different. In the past, Mark ran his own fruit and veg shop and he was also
a keen rugby player in his youth. In his spare time, Mark likes fishing,
watching most sports, and country walks |

Mervyn
- Plantaria Manager
Mervyn joined us in January 2007. He grew up in Filton and lives now in
Thornbury, and has worked in the garden centre business throughout the area
for many years. He wanted to work at Chepstow Garden Centre because it is an
independent centre where he believes much more can be done for the customer.
Mervyn has an RHS certificate with distinction in Horticulture. Outside of
work, he enjoys gardening, photography, and taking his grandson to all of
the places he hasn't been to since his children grew up. |

Linda
- Supervisor, Newhall Farm Shop
Linda joined the farmshop in the summer of 2006 and has worked in the fresh
food industry for over seven years. She enjoys having the time to
speak with customers about fresh foods available at the farmshop and gets
great job satisfaction from being able to provide good customer service.
Originally from Cardiff, Linda grew up in Monmouth but lives now in Caldicot.
When not at work, she spends time with her four grandchildren and her
spaniel Sophie. She likes caravanning, gardening, and keeping tropical fish. |

Will
- Compost Area Supervisor
Will has worked at the garden centre for over two years, when he joined on a
college placement. He's originally from Newport, but grew up and lives now
in Trellech. Will has an NVQ in Horticulture and he enjoys work at the
garden centre because of the variety of people that come in every day. When
not at work, he enjoys motorbikes and MotorX, and he goes snowboarding in
France each winter for a bit of fun. |

Sam
- Furniture and BBQ Supervisor
Sam joined Chepstow Garden Centre just after leaving school. He is from
Bedford but spent a number of years living in Puerto Rico in the Caribbean,
before settling with his family in Catbrook, near Tintern, where he still
lives. Sam enjoys football and is a big Manchester United fan. He's also
known to enjoy a few drinks with his friends at the weekend. |

Judith
- Marketing Manager
Judith joined the team in April 2004. She previously worked as a project
manager at HP in Bristol and with a bank in London. Judith was born in New
York, raised in Iowa, but came to London to do a masters degree twenty years
ago and hasn't left. She now lives in Tutshill. Apart from coordinating
advertising, Judith works with the EPOS computerised stock system. When she
isn't in the office at Chepstow, she's generally being overwhelmed by the
boundless energy of her two sons. |

Lee - Operations Manager
Lee joined the garden centre group in January and works across all centres.
He is from Worcester, where he now lives again after many years living away
in London, Brighton, Sydney, and other places! While in Australia, he even
did a bit of work in an Australian garden centre. He has an NCH in
Horticulture and has worked at other garden centres such as Blooms and
Country Gardens. When not at work, Lee likes to spend time with his two
children, do a bit of gardening and DIY, and have the odd glass of beer.

Hilary
- House Plant Supervisor
Hilary is originally from Birmingham but now lives in the Chepstow area. She
trained as a fashion designer and ran her own business before joining her
husband's tool hire business. She's worked at Chepstow since it opened. She
has lived all over the world, from South Africa, to Canada, to Guernsey. Her
hobbies include gardening, in particular growing vegetables, and lacemaking.
She's a member of the RHS and is the area coordinator for the HPS
Conservation of Endangered garden-worthy plants. |

Gill - Centre Manager
Gill is originally from Wiltshire but lives now in Portskewett. As garden
centres are her favourite type of shop, she jumped at the chance to start
working at Chepstow Garden Centre as a Sales Assistant when a vacancy came
up. Gill then became Shop Goods Manager, the Farm Shop Manager, and now has
returned as the Centre Manager. Gill enjoys spending time with her
family and her dog Daisy. And, of course, gardening! |

Sue - Giftware Supervisor
Though originally from Newport, Sue only returned to the Chepstow area seven
years ago, after spending many years away at university, working in retail
management, and starting a family in Bromley in Kent. Sue and her husband
have three sons. She is passionate about gardening and enjoys working
outside in the plantaria at Chepstow Garden Centre. When she gets a spare
moment from work and running around three boys, Sue enjoys hiking, camping,
walking her dog Toby, and reading. |

James Boyle - Owner
James founded Chepstow Garden
Centre, which opened for business in August 2002. James is from Dungannon in
Northern Ireland, but lives now in Chepstow. He studied Horticulture at
university, and has worked in the retail garden centre business since then.
He is married to Judith and has two young boys – Conor and Declan. James is
a fan of Gaelic Football and is a keen supporter of County Tyrone, who
became the All Ireland Champions in 2003 and 2005. |
